Wisconsin-based Manufacturer Puts Employees Front and Center to Explore the State of Manufacturing and its Future

OCONOMOWOC, WI (October 31, 20232) – Sentry Equipment, a global provider of sampling and process improvement technologies, hosted an extraordinary Manufacturing Day on October 6, drawing a record number of students and community guests. 

For MFG Day 2023, Sentry Equipment opened its doors to local high school students and colleges with guided tours of its state-of-the-art facility in Oconomowoc. The Manufacturing Institute celebrates MFG Day nationally as manufacturing’s biggest annual opportunity to inspire the next generation, positively shift perceptions about the industry, and build a foundation for the manufacturing workforce of the future. 

Sentry kicked off MFG Day with a lively panel discussion on the factory floor that featured a group of four distinctly diverse Sentry employee-owners who spoke about their personal experiences and insights that inspire careers and shift perceptions about modern manufacturing and the changing state of the industry’s workforce. The discussion was joined by a bevy of Wisconsin state government representatives, with the panel commenting on topics ranging from schooling and the skilled trades to Artificial Intelligence and its impact on the manufacturing business today. 

“I think we’re going to start to see even more businesses, especially those at the intersections of engineering technology and the skilled trades, open up to this burgeoning generation of talent,” said Brian Baker, President, and CEO of Sentry Equipment Corp. “For this next generation about to enter the workforce, it’s important to get firsthand opportunities to experience what technical manufacturing careers can look like.  Armed with this experience, they can see how they would fit in and see how great their careers can be.”  

Underscoring his passion for employee ownership, Baker and his marketing team introduced the company’s recent investment in a new digital platform that promises to enhance customer relationships and drive website usage from the inside out.  Employees owners at Sentry Equipment have also been recognized in 2023 with a Women MAKE Awards Honoree from the Manufacturing Institute and prominent features in People to Know in Manufacturing and CFO of the Year.
